Hey Kendall Jones, the crew at ThisIsn’tGood.com here. We saw your facebook and felt like responding to you and the “Conservationists”;
As open abusers of the English language, we should have nothing to say about you poaching words from the dictionary, but it has come to a point where you’re the newest figure in the crosshairs of American media, so we’ll use you and your conservationist representation as an easy target.
Hunting is not conservation, so please stop using the word in any of your sentences. This isn’t partisan gerrymandering, left-wing bias, or any form of political statement, just English. Conservation is the idea of preserving, guarding or protecting as it applies to longevity and continuity — a noun. Hunting is the act of pursuing for sport or food — a verb. Hunting fulfills absolutely none of the criteria of conservation, while conservation fills no criteria of hunting. You are actively engaging in the convolution of the English language to try to mask your actions. Conservation is not the act of killing something you are the main threat to. Conservation would be to remove as many pieces of artificial selection and human choices as possible from the equation to try to return something to an unadulterated state.
Each of us here could write a 10 page treatise to how incorrect you are, and how you and the “Conservationists” are proliferating the bastardization and euphemization of the English language. The forced ignorance contributes to an unnecessarily arbitrary debate about purpose that could easily be avoided. Another foolish cause furthering a general misunderstanding, fogging truth with whatever fits the hourly modified comfort zone. Using the proper language with specified intent implies a willingness to receive an honest response in return. By calling hunting conservation, you are trying to avoid the debate as to whether or not it is legitimate to hunt a leopard, lion, or an elephant. An unwillingness to discuss head-on, the universal reality of ones actions fulfills a different definition…
..So, with proper use of the English language, we will redefine the “Conservationists” — Cowards.
And you’re also fishers, writers, walkers, pukers, talkers, shitters, eaters, sleepers and fuckers, but you’re never a hunter and a conservationist simultaneously.
